Our friend Alessandra owns the company and creates the designs for the hand-carved gourds, which include ornaments, trinket boxes, birdhouses, bird feeders and baskets. Alessandra, who lives in Florida, is originally from Peru, and she hires more than 98 Peruvian carvers to create these little masterpieces. As a member of the Free Trade Federation, she pays better than an average wage for Peru and is responsible for bettering the lives of all these families.
